Chicken in Oyster Sauce & Cream Cheese

Here in Dubai, you will see chicken in every fridge. Meat here are frozen. There is also fresh meat but it is kinda pricey and a Filipina like me who loves to cook has a tight budget when it comes to food. I could buy a lot of items for 30 AED and that is good for two (2) meals already. What a feast!

What you will need:

1 kg Chicken (Any part)

2 Medium sized Potato (Pont Neuf cut) *Pont neuf- thick cut of french fries
Green peas (1/2 cup)
1 tbsp. Oyster Sauce
2 tbsp. of Cream Cheese
Ginger (Julienne)
Bell pepper ( Red, Yellow or Green)
1 cup Chicken Broth or Water
2 Bay leaves
Garlic (Minced)
Onions (Minced)
2 tbsp. Olive Oil
Sat & Pepper to taste

What you will do:

1. Wash the meat thoroughly. Season with salt and pepper. Set aside. Preheat the wok/pot. Add oil and fry the chicken both sides for 2 minutes. Skin side down first. Set aside.

2. Fry the potatoes and Bay leaves. Set aside.
3. Remove excess oil. In the same wok, sautee garlic, ginger and onion. Then, add the chicken. Pour the chicken broth or water. Cover the wok/pot. Bring to a boil then lower the heat. Simmer for 5 minutes.
4. Once simmered already, add in the potatoes and green peas. Cover the pot and simmer until cooked.
5. Add the oyster sauce and the cream cheese. Add more salt according to your taste preference.
5. Turn off the heat and add the bell pepper.
6. Serve with steamed rice.
